Adoption details and how to support the Daffodils below.
I started fostering Daffodil through my local humane society. She was underweight, malnourished with fractured teeth and within 48 hours of bringing her home, she gave birth to 9 beautiful puppies.
Because her body condition was so poor, Daffodil’s postpartum recovery was extremely hard which meant round the clock care for her large litter. And when I didn’t think things could get worse, they did…
At ~3.5 weeks old, we lost 3 of her puppies, which was one of the darkest moments of my life. We did everything we could to save Maple, Juniper and Posie, but their little bodies couldn’t handle this world.
The remaining 6 puppies, Birdie, Aura, Grover, Beau, Moss and Huckleberry are now over 8 weeks old and ready for adoption through my local shelter, Southern Oregon Humane Society. If you are interested in applying to adopt one of the Daffodil puppies, please read below minimum requirements for consideration:
*MINIMUM* REQUIREMENTS TO ADOPT:
- Must reside in the southern Oregon or Northern California region ideally with secure 6 foot fenced yard
- Must have experience raising and puppy
- Must have experience owning a high energy working breed
- Must be committed to positive reinforcement training techniques, and refrain from use of prong or e-collars
- Must be committed to additional training to set puppies up for success
- Must have someone home most of the day (these puppies will not thrive being left alone for hours at a time)
- Must be willing/able/wanting to provide physical and mental exercise every day (these puppies will not do well living a sedentary life, they are high energy working breeds)
- Preferably a family without young children will be ideal
- While all puppies have been working on training and socializing, the adoptive family will still need to crate train and potty train
- REQUIRED to contact me and Southern Oregon Humane Society if at ANY point you need to re-home dog
- Attend in person interview with myself and shelter director in southern Oregon
Their mother, Daffodil, is not up for adoption at this time. Will update here if that changes.
These are very likely border collie mix puppies, and definitely a high energy working breed, meaning they will require a home that is active, puppy experienced and committed to training with positive techniques. If you meet the above minimum requirements, below are the to 2 steps to apply:
